RESTCLOUD Insect and Butterfly Habitat Cage – 12" Pop-Up Terrarium with Zipper Protection
The RESTCLOUD Insect and Butterfly Habitat Cage is a 12-inch pop-up terrarium designed for raising monarch butterflies, painted ladies, black swallowtails, and other insects. It features five mesh panels for airflow, a clear vinyl window for unobstructed observation, and a zipper protection seam that prevents caterpillars from pupating on the zipper and getting damaged. This collapsible, reusable cage includes a quick start guide and is suitable for classrooms, families, and hobbyists.
What Makes This Butterfly Cage Different?
This professional version butterfly enclosure is more square than typical cone-shaped habitats, so it sits straight without rocking or moving. The clear vinyl window panel gives students and families an unforgettable opportunity to watch caterpillars change into chrysalides and then emerge as beautiful butterflies. A large zipper side opening makes it easy to feed your butterflies and release them into the wild. Butterflies will often land on little hands and faces before flying away.

How Do You Set Up and Care for the Butterfly Habitat?
When opening the cage, slip off the elastic strap from around the circle carefully—the cube cage can pop open unexpectedly, so make sure you have plenty of space and no breakable objects close by. After opening, the PVC side may be creased from folding. To get the creases out quickly, blow dry the PVC with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes, or place it toward warm sun to relax wrinkles. Always close the cage door so the zippers meet at the top center. If a caterpillar is on the zipper, you can zip down the other side to open. To clean the mesh cage after a disease outbreak or at season's end, soak it in a 5% bleach solution (19 parts water to 1 part bleach) for about 20 minutes. Rinse with water and let it sun dry—hang it on a clothesline or put a rock on the floor so it won't blow away. When folding for storage, place your hands on opposite upper corners of the cage and press one corner in to fold it flat. Store flat in a closet, under a bed, or behind a couch.
